Today's the day.....

Today Meggie will be having a very long and large surgery to remove up to half of her liver. I could follow that up with lots of technical information, but I just don't feel like going over all of that again. Sorry. Suffice to say that we're dreading today and will be relying on the skilled hands of her surgical team, and all of the prayers and positive vibes winging her way from across the globe. Thank you all......

Below is a photograph (which some of you have already seen) that was taken at a recent session we had done. The studio very kindly gave this to Meg, along with a card wishing her all the best, to keep by her bedside and make her smile.

Its a day you need to be stronger, braver and more patient than you've ever needed to be, but I know you can do it... Well, Ellie and I(Phil) are back from hospital - tired, emotionally stretched but incredibly relieved that our totally incredible little redhead came through surgery with no major complications.
The surgeons reported a positive outcome and Meg is comfortable in ICU.Jane is with her and will stay with the Meg as long as she is able.
I am sitting in our quiet house chewing on Vitawheat - they are sooo good - and listening to the amazing blind indigenous musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu.
For those of you who do not know of Gurrumul - do yourselves a favour and go out and buy his CD. Its the best $22 I have spent - apart from that time in The Seychelles in 1976!!and Paris `78 and -- Khartoum!!
I dont understand a word he is singing - I dont need to. He totally reflects my feelings and emotions of recent days, weeks, months - years.
Be prepared to reflect on life!
Thank you all for your messages of support, your prayers and your good wishes. It truly makes a difference knowing we are not alone with this.
May the sun always shine for you and may the wind that blows up your kilt be warm and gentle.

Hi Guys

Have been sat up thinking about you all and how terribly hard today must of been, the unimaginable anxiety you must have felt. It was great of you post to let us know that Meg is out of surgery and the outcome was positive. I should think you are all emotionally and physically exhausted and probably more drained than ever before. Yet you have succeeded again. Just wanted you to know we are all thinking of you. You never fail to amaze us with your strength and courage.

Love Kate,Terry,Nicolae,Anna & Ben

Hi Stanley family, So glad to hear that Meggie has come through the operation well.

Phil, how on earth do you expect me to buy a CD by a fellow who's name is unpronouncable - couldn't you just have bought something by Bruce and Sheila?

We had a moment of excitement yesterday. We went up Table Mountain for a celebratory birthday breakfast for Nootch and while we were up there the cable car developed a technical hitch and we couldn't get down again. No we are not still up there. We eventually got back to "terra firma" in the afternoon., We will keep praying for you all.

Give Megs a big hug and lots of kisses from both of us.

Loved the picture
